Here's a bunch of stuff I find interesting... You may find some of it interesting too... If you like to hear about sports, movies, gadgets, video games, politics, other random funny stuff, etc, then I think you'll find something you like... Take a look around and let me know what you like and what you hate...
I hate TMZ.com (except for the Mel Gibson thing they uncovered)... They are just out with a video camera trying to get video of starts being fucked over (or they do the fucking over themselves)... Tara Reid has fallen far, but this is sad for her... Its a video of her getting rejected from a club by the doorman... And once she is, Paris Hilton saunters by and gets right in... But that's what you get for wanting to be a club kid I guess...
Want to know about new companies that are coming along, and the next generation of the Internet (AKA Web 2.0)... This is a great summary, though it doesnt have the company I work for (probly cuz we haven't launched yet)... But you'll hear about us...
How'd you spend your weekend? Go to the bar with the boys? Maybe a hike in the hills? Well, your time has been wasted, as evidenced by this man... As you were doing whatever it is you were doing, he was focusing on pulling off one of the greatest stunts in the history of humanity... Wearing 121 t-shirts at once! Click the link to see the process...
This site is really awesome... I haven't read through it all yet, but its got tons of cool pop culture stuff and schwag from the 70s and 80s, including sets of trading cards that should have been made... All in all just a killer site...
Alright, as you all know I'm pretty excited about the Transformers movie... But if you remember the originals, Megatron was a gun... That's why they stopped making him and why he's so valuable on eBay... So they've released pix of him from the movie and he's not a gun... In fact, he's not even some kind of vehicle from Earth... Kinda stupid if you ask me...
This place looks F-ing cool! But one question... Who's gonna stary there? The things in North Korea and last I knew, that wasnt a bit tourist destination... Oh well, probably one of those things they're doing to prove they can...
So, this pill, which has been legal in Europe forever, was finally made over-the-counter in the US... But you have to read between the lines into the details to really know what's going on.
The Good News: - The pill is legal as an over-the-counter medication (so it should be easier to get, thus reducing the number of girls needing abortions)
The Bad News: - The right-wing has gotten a hold of a lot of people and besides having hung this up in the FDA for years, they have limited it to 18 year olds and above - It has to be kept behind the counter, adding an embarassment factor (and the ability for some pharmacists to refuse to sell it because of personal beliefs) - Wal-Mart is not going to carry it, thus limiting the ability for a large percentage of our country to get to it (probably the same people who would have a hard time getting to an abortion clinic)
We need to keep pushing for wide(r) access to this stuff...
A long article about where they're going with their movies in the next few years... I'm excited about Captain America... It's time they did him some justice... Maybe start back in the 50s with him fighting the Red Skull, then he gets frozen and comes back now... That would kick ass!
Here is a great list of the biggest mouths in Hollywood... And by mouth, we dont mean the people who talk the most, its the people who literally have the biggest mouths... I'm sure you won't be surprised at #1... I'm posting a pic of Evangeline Lilly (from Lost for those of you who are missing the 2nd best show on TV) because she is gorgeous (she's only #10)...
So, this article was launched on Forbes.com entitled "Don't Marry Career Women"... I don't necessarily agree with it, but I think it should stay up (so we can at least get a laugh out of it)... But not everyone agrees... The "feminists" wanted it taken down, and forced Forbes to censor it... That's freedom! We know they can't read anyways...
No, it didnt get blown up by the Klingons or Osama or anything... It's still out there, but scientists decided its not a planet anymore... They found other stuff out there thats bigger than Pluto, so now they're all "Dwarf Planets"... I'm pissed off! We had to learn 9 planets, our kids should have to learn 9 planets... Lord knows theres already a bunch of other stuff we learned they wont have to learn... Like about how government is supposed to work, and what handwriting looks like...
Well, one Vegas tradition may be going by the wayside... The marriage license office will now close from midnite to 8 am (for budgetary reasons), so you'll have to do it first thing in the morning instead...
OK, I know I'll never have so much disposable income that $18,500 for a pirate-themed treehouse would make sense (I doubt they'd let me have it in my apartment anyways)... But, if one of you has bought one of these, can I come over and play?
Whoa, is this true? They're saying the Nintendo Wii might only cost $170 at launch! If Nintendo can pull off that pricing, along with the unique control scheme the Wii's going to have, every gamer will buy one (and a lot of non-gamers too)... Bold move Nintendo!
Waiting for that macaroni and cheese to heat up? Play Tetris on your fridge with these Tetris (well, they call it Tetrius, probly so they don't get sued) magnets...
I don't know if any of you have ever watched Tony Bourdain's show on the Travel Channel, but I love it... It's a must for anyone who loves to travel, and not just the 5-star hotel, ritzy travelling, but being with the real people of the countries... More specifically, he eats with them, visits with them and gets to know them... So this week, they are airing an episode where he was in Lebanon when the war started... Should be interesting stuff...
So, another week and another Awesome Athlete We May Have Forgotten! Now, I'm from No Cal, so I'm going to be picking another No Cal player, but I'm going to open this up and be pulling from other areas as well... But I want to shine the light on those athletes I loved growing up who just aren't appreciate enough... Feel free to send other suggestions that fit... They don't have to have had super-long careers, or even have been the best at any one time, but should not be a HOFer or the like... Gimme some suggestions and we'll run with them...
So who's the AAWMHF of the week? John Taylor, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers. Now, John Taylor had a few things working against him: 1) He was very quiet and rarely talked to the media 2) His career was not that long 3) He played across from some guy named Jerry Rice, who (deservedly) got most of the spotlight
Now, why does John Taylor deserve AAWHMF status? Cuz he was Awesome! He could take a short pass and turn it into a 70 yard reception, or, as he did one night against the Rams (on Monday Night Football no less), he turned two 5-yard passes in 90 yard receptions, becoming the only person in the history of the NFL to have two 90 yard touchdowns in one game (I'm not even sure if anyone else has two in their career)! Unfortunately, noone has uploaded that video to YouTube yet, but here's a very similar catch he made against the Eagles:
But, the high point of JT's career was the touchdown at the end of the 49ers amazing drive in Super Bowl XXIII, in 1988, against the Bengals. Jerry Rice owned that game, but JT made the winning catch. Relive the moment here:
Unfortunately, JT's career was cut a bit short by injuries and the like, but he had some great seasons, including a couple 1000 yard seasons and a place in
49ers lore. So, here's to John Taylor in all his awesomeness!
So, what's the best finishing move of all time? And which ones stink (Rikishi's Stinkface definitely does)... They're all reviewed here, and I wont tell you which is the best...
So I heard Cracked magazine got bought and is being re-launched as more of an adult magazine (not porn, by adult i mean not for kids), and based on the content on their site, I think its going to be good... Check this one out (complete with YouTube videos)...
Pretty cool product... Have a favorite video you want to take with you? Want to give a grandparent a cool gift? This company will take your digital video clips and make them into little flip books... Pretty cool idea...
So I went to a matinee of Snakes on a Plane... I've been waiting for this one for months and wanted to see if the movie lived up to the hype... So here's the short version... It's not the best movie I've ever seen, but I enjoyed the whole thing and thought there were some really funny moments... Some stuff was excessively campy (snake biting a guy on his penis anyone?), but Samuel L. was great as always and you have to appreciate a big-budget B movie... Our parents were raised on B movies and we are now in the age of straight-to-video... Every movie we see in the theater is trying to be great (maybe thats because they charge so much now), but a lot of people just wanted to go to the movies for fun, not a higbrow experience... So, if that's you, and you don't mind some blood and puss, Snakes on a Plane is good fun...
Neil Young having a really stimulating conversation with Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report... This guy is not only a great musician, but a great American also (amazing since he's actually from Canada)...
The Little League World Series starts this weekend and Saudi Arabia has a kid who's 6'8"! How would you like to see that kid on the mound across from you when you're batting? I hope they're doing some background checks!
I LOVE the TV show Deadwood... I mean LOVE IT! I think it's possibly the greatest show ever to be on TV... And I'm already pissed off they're probably ending it after this year... Anyways, here's a really cool page that talks about the show and its characters... Amazingly, most of the characters on the show were real people in Deadwood... Some creative license was taken, of course, but the Gem Saloon was real, as was Al Swearengen... Now that's cool...
This thing is gonna be huge! HP is marketing a camera that has a setting to automatically make people look skinnier... Definitely will be a hit with people setting up dating profiles...
I guess its comic book day here... So, since we already linked to the 10 manliest superheros, here's the 10 unmanliest... I always thought Angel was a bit of a pussy...
I really hope this is a joke, because this is just about the stupidest thing I've ever seen... And even if it is a joke, who wasted their time on this?
Lots of good Marvel movies coming up... I heard Joe Quesada, one of the top guys at Marvel, talking from ComicCon and he said he's most excited about Iron Man... I think that one's gonna sneak up on some people...
The next Batman flick is shaping up to have a pretty good cast of bad guys... Heath Ledger as the Joker, Ryan Philippe as Two-Face and perhaps PSH as the Penguin? Wow...
Guy decides to propose to his woman while he's spinning the wheel... And at the same time, he hits $1.00 on the wheel... And wins the Showcase Showdown!
And here, for your viewing pleasure... The dumbest person ever to be on the show... You gotta watch the whole thing to get the full enjoyment...
Finally, the news is discussing something important... Is Bush an idiot? What do you think? The best part is that Scarborough asks, "Is Bush an idiot of just inarticulate"?
Dennis Leary finds out that the Red Sox' first baseman, Kevin Youkilis is Jewish... He's thrilled at the thought (along with the fact that Gabe Kapler, one of their outfielders is as well), and goes off on an anti-Mel Gibson rant (as only he can)...
Quite the headline huh? But it's true... Some dude (who happened to be a neo-Nazi) made a ton of money using AOL to spam people... AOL won a suit against his family for their assets (of which they don't have many)... So AOL is going to dig up these people's backyard to look for gold and platinum bars they think are hidden there... Now THAT's a story you don't hear every day...
My love for the WWF started in the early 80s (probably about the time Hulk Hogan showed up in Rocky 3)... And it ended maybe 10 years later... My point is, I'm not familiar with all these rivalries, but it's a pretty damn good list... I'll always be partial to anything that includes George "The Animal" Steele... Why does no one eat turnbuckles anymore?
So I was listening to Tony Bruno this morning on the way to work and they had Stephon Marbury on... Now, normally, I can't stand the guy... I think he's a ball hog, bad shot and just not that great of a player...
But, as I was listening, he was talking about his new shoe line, the Starbury1... Now, a player talking about his shoe line is about as exciting as an actor discussing politics, but this was different... Why, you ask? Because his shoe sells for 15 BUCKS!!! Now, I haven't seen it in person (I'm sure few have), but he says that not only is it just as good as the shoes Nike sells for $100 (remains to be seen), but he says he is actually going to wear them for games...
Maybe he just couldn't get a new shoe contract... Maybe this is just a PR move... It's not April Fools day, so it can't be that... No matter what, though, I've got to give the guy credit for lending his name to a product that inner city kids will not only want, but something they can afford... For a guy who gets so much negative press, you gotta give him props when he deserves them... Now, where are those Terrell Owens $2 footballs?
In preparation for Snakes on a Plane, IGN has put together a list of the top 10 snake movies of all time... It looks like I need to make a trip to the video store!
Everyone's got a blog these days... Some of them are very interesting opportunities to get inside a celebrity's head and some are just weird... So now, the head of Iran (something Ahmadinejad) has his own blog... Including polling and everything... And while the English translation is not very good, it's definitely interesting to do... I can't wait for the next despot blog... Kim Jong Il, bring it on!
Now you finally have an excuse to suggest that your woman get breast implants! "Babe, I know you've never wanted them, but I'm worried about something happening to you in case of a rocket attack... Why don't you get some implants, just to be safe..."
This is interesting (if you're at all into geeky computer-type stuff)... It shows how desktop software has evolved since 1984... Looks like they had it pretty good to start with...
This is pretty cool... This website has a whole library of old radio shows that you can download for free... Definitely a worthwhile way to pass some time...
Just came back from seeing "The Descent" (yes the title is supposed to be a play on words - decent/descent get it?). Anyways, this movie is scary... A couple S*** your pants moments, and a lot of lot of blood (think Dario Argento-style blood), but not gratuitous... A group of daredevil women decide to go caving... What they don't know is that their friend took them to an uncharted cave and there's bad stuff in there... Claustrophobic, dark and scary, well worth your time if you like the scary movies... However, if you go see it, come back here and view the original UK ending (don't bother watching the end if you haven't seen the movie as it won't make any sense):
Don't let them sweep this little piece of news under the rug... Apparently, the British government wanted to do surveillance on the new bomb suspects, but the US wanted to do it right away (to get some PR after the Republican's man Lieberman lost his election)... By the way, definitely pay attention to this paragraph from the article:
"In contrast to previous reports, the official suggested an attack was not imminent, saying the suspects had not yet purchased any airline tickets. In fact, some did not even have passports."
Was there ever a great concert you wish you'd gone to? Maybe you were too young at the time, maybe you couldn't afford it, or maybe you just weren't cool enough... Well now you can pretend you were there! This site lets you generate concert tickets that you can print off and show off... But don't try sellin em... I doubt they'll work...
Wow, video game shows really weren't cool in the early days (not that they're much cooler now but still)... Check out the first episode of GamePro TV from back in the day...
There have definitely been some big upsets in sports, but ESPN Page 2 has listed what they think were the 10 top... Although I gotta say, Buster Douglas should be #1...
I was just paging through Google Blogs randomly and came across this Blog... This is a really good story about Wikipedia and how its really a huge fundamental change in the way people have done things and the largest collaborative effort in the history of the world...
So, how many of you remember Dave Stewart? OK, to be fair, only baseball fans will probably know him... But if you remember baseball in the late 80s, he was one of the dominant pitchers, day after day, year after year, consistent as hell for 5 years... And every year, he and the A's would come up against Roger Clemens and the Red Sox in the playoffs... And he'd always kick Roger Clemens' ass! He was career 7-1 against Roger Clemens, who everyone now thinks is one of the greatest ever! Roger had a famous meltdown against Dave when we screamed at the ump in the first inning and got thrown out... So, if for nothing else but his complete mastery of Roger Clemens, we should spend some time thinking how awesome Dave Stewart was...
P.S. You know the sad thing? When I went to Google and did an image search on Dave Stewart for this article, he didn't even come up til the 2nd page... That dude from the Eurythmics is first... What kind of world is this?
So some dude in NY finds an amazing comic book collection in his garage with some fantastic comic books from the 50s, 60s, etc... Wish I was that lucky... I'd retire!
Well, I'm getting very very excited for football season and it's gonna be a great year for my team, the California Golden Bears... And just to remind you who's the best, here's the best play in the history of football (just a sidenote for the other Elway-haters around here - This was his last regular season game in college and this play kept him out of the Rose Bowl)...
This is a great posting... This guy lists his 10 best and 10 worst Sci-Fi TV show openings... Though I have to say I don't completely agree... #9 on his "best" list should be #1 (Greatest American Hero) and #1 on his worst list should be #2 (Land of the Lost)... I loved that show!
Good article on some good movies... once again, this one's good not only for the moments it discusses, but most of these movies are must-see as well...
I'm gonna see Snakes on a Plane right when it opens... And I know a lot of other people who will too... But if you're like me, you've got friends/loved ones/etc who just aren't convinced... So here's how you can help them... This site will help you generate a personal phone message from Samuel L. Jackson to them... It's hilarious...
Steve Wozniak was one of the original founders of Apple, so obviously he made a ton of money... But he's using it wisely too... Next year, he's going to drive to the South Pole in a Hydrogen-fueled Hummer, with Buzz Aldrin as his co-pilot... But wait, there's more! James Cameron will be there filming it in 3-D!
Ned Lamont is a Democrat running against Joe Lieberman in Connecticut... Basically because Lieberman, though a Democrat, is Bush's lapdog... Watch this guy on the Colbert report and you'll see what a good politician sounds like... Of course, we'd have to see what happens once he gets into office...
They say Terence Howard has been offered the part of Jim Rhodes in Iron Man... For those of you who don't know, Jim Rhodes is Tony Stark (Iron Man)'s assistant who becomes Iron Man for a while when Tony's in the depths of his alcoholism... But who's gonna be Tony?
