First Live Giant Squid Captured!!!
For a long time, people thought giant squids might have been a myth... Then, fairly recently, they started to find some dead ones, up to 60 feet long... Now, the Japanese have finally captured a live one (and there's video too)... Very cool stuff...

Guitar Hero Rulez!!!
I've been playing Guitar Hero for a couple years now. Some of you may not know, but it is an amazing video game where the controller is a guitar and you play along with hit songs from the past. It definitely seemed dorky at first, but it has finally caught on mainstream. This is the kind of game that will really take gaming to the next level. It's accessible and fun and there's no limit to where it can go. Country version? Acoustic version? It's awesome!

People Still Living in Star Wars Sets...
The first Star Wars was shot partly in Tunisia (the parts on Luke's home planet of Tatooine)... As with many movies, they didnt want to pay to dismantle the sets, so they just left them there... And now, 30 years later, people are still living in them... So it actually ended up being pretty cool...

I don't know if you heard, but Britney's got a new boyfriend (she did wait an entire 2 weeks)... The crazy thing is... I went to high school with him!!! And here's the thing: He was a total dork!!! If I can get enough people to come visit this posting and show me some interest (leave comments, Digg me, etc), I'll pull out my old high school yearbooks and scan some pix... If not, no biggie...

South Park Creators - Download Our Shows...
I definitely enjoy South Park, though I have to admit I haven't watched it for the last couple years... But the creators were interviewed recently and came out in favor of people downloading their shows... I have to applaud that move... I think people who really believe in what they're making want as many people as possible to see it... And I really don't believe it decreases the number of people who pay for their shows... More networks should make their shows available for download... Toss in commercials, I really don't mind...

Saturday Morning... Those Were The Days...
So I was reading Plaid Stallions today (plaidstallions.blogspot.com), which is a retro blog I read on a fairly regular basis... He scans catalogs for clothes and toys from the 70s, and he had a scan of the Saturday morning TV schedule from 1974... And a great commentary on what Saturday morning used to be like and how our kids will never understand what Saturday morning meant to us... I love Tivo and Cable as much as anyone, but inventions like Tivo will mean kids will never understand what it meant to wait all week for your show...

YouTube Begins Its Descent...
Now, I'm a huge fan of YouTube... Not because they do anything special, but because you can find just about anything you want there... Now that it's been bought by "The Google" (as our President would say), things are starting to go downhill... I think media companies now see a huge wallet attached and are going to pull down a lot more videos of make Google pay for them... This is really interesting because YouTube actually succeeded by doing things the wrong way... There are tons of companies out there who have the same or better technology... The reason YouTube got big was because they let people post anything (copywrited stuff, etc), which gave them better content than the guys who did it the right way (protected content that has copywrites)... So, now Comedy Central has pulled down all their clips... Colbert, Jon Stewart, etc... Bye bye...

Slingbox lets Bears fans watch the game...
I don't know if you know what Slingbox is, but its basically a box you connect to your TV/Tivo and it lets you watch your TV over the Internet... Well, the founder is a Cal grad and when he found out the Cal/Wash St game wasnt televised in the Bay Area, he stepped in to help... With a Slingbox, he took the Washington State feed for the game and transmitted it over the Internet to the Cal stadium, where 3000 fans got to watch the game... Cool use of tech...

OK, I think this guy is a total idiot, but he's interesting nonetheless... This guys goal is to drink a cup of coffee at every Starbuck's there is... Michael Robinson Kicks Ass!
Michael Robinson was the 49ers 4th round pick this year... He was a QB in college and is converting to a RB in the NFL, which is strange in its own right... Even stranger is the fact that this guy runs over people! Last week against the Eagles, he had 2 TD runs, each of which resulted in the attempted tackler being injured and taken out of the game... But this is not the first time for this... Here's a YouTube clip of Michael Robinson in college, destroying a safety! If Frank Gore keeps fumbling, this guy could be the man, and if he gets that spot, he won't be giving it back!
